A town of around 7,600 people, 25Km off the Interamerican highway, known for two things above all else: wind and water. Experience the volcanic soil and year-round spring-like climate that makes it ideal for different species of plants and animals to thrive in this place. There are several species of flowers and trees, mammals and reptiles and around 500 species of birds living in Anton’s Valley.
Natural attractions nearby include the Chorro El Macho waterfall, Las Mozas waterfall, the “square” trees behind Hotel Campestre, and the small thermal water pools with mineralized water that varies in color depending on the minerals present at a given time. This plae is one of the last habitats of the endangered Panamanian golden frog.
Some of the popular activities in the area include cycling, hiking, horseback riding, and, of course, birdwatching. In this place, you can feel the energy – in the air, in the water, and from the tree-covered mountains that surround.
If you are curious to see and feel what it’s like to live inside a volcano and feel the dormant energy come alive within you, visit El Nispero zoo, named after a type of tree, a small serpentarium, a butterfly house and an orchid conservation center with over 100 native local orchid species, the Anton Valley is for you.
